A complete turn around from last years 2013 Tangerine Tango, the Pantone Color Institute unveiled Emerald as the color of 2013. Quoted “to promote balance and harmony”, the institute say its the perfect hue for design, fashion, and beauty.
Green as a color known for its association with nature and the environmental movement, the continuum of yellow and blue. While there are many shades of green, emerald is light and bright, with a faint bluish tint.
The name derives from the gemstone emerald, which is composed of the mineral beryl (Be3Al2(SiO3)6) and colored green by trace amounts the chemical elements chromium and sometimes vanadium. This green gem is the traditional birthstone for May, as well for the astrological signs of Taurus, Cancer and sometimes Gemini.
